1. Master Sommelier Diploma Exam
The master sommelier diploma exam is still considered as the toughest exam in the world for some legit reasons. Nobody yet has the idea of how the selectors select the candidates. The exam was first taken 40 years before and only about 200 candidates have been selected. The toughest exam in the world is divided into three sections, which are Theory, Service and Blind Tasting. Most of the candidates appearing for the test succeeds to clear the first two sections but faces some real trouble when it comes to clearing the level 3 of the same and thus have to re-appear for the same next year.
2. All Souls Prize Fellowship Exam
The second toughest exam in the world was being conducted at Oxford University’s All Souls College. All those who appeared in the examination had to write long essays about only one word given. Out of thousands of applications, only two students are selected every year. The examination is divided into 4 individual papers and each of them lasts for 3 hours respectively. One has to be excellent with not only factual knowledge but also with the powers of imagining things.
3. CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Exam
The CFA is not an academic degree. It’s a professional stature. Out of all the applicants for the exam, only one-fifth of them can manage to clear the examination. The wall street journal termed CFA Exam as one of the toughest exams in the world. The first two stages contain multiple-choice questions and the third and final; stage includes essay type descriptive questions. The exam is quite popular amongst the finance and investment professionals and the take that exam at least once in their lifetime. After the successful completion of the certification program, the merit holder is termed as “CFA Charterholder”.
4. GRE (Graduate Record Examinations)
Most graduate schools in the States require GRE scores as a prerequisite score for admission. The fourth toughest examination in the world is held both online and offline (paper-based). An individual appearing for the computer-based online GRE test has to undergo 6 different examination sections including Verbal Reasoning Sections, Analytical Writing Sections, Research Sections, and Quantitative Reasoning sections in order to pass the examination. The paper-based examination is only restricted to remote areas where online examinations cannot be held.

6. UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) Exam
UPSC is India’s central agency to hold all the important examinations in the country to appoint the top-notch government officials of India. The various examinations conducted by the board include the Civil Service Exam, Combined Defence Service Exams, Indian Statistical Service Examinations, and many more. The exams are organized in a preliminary phase initially, where students have objective questions and then the descriptive ones in the final phase proceeded by an Interview. About 3,00,000 people appear for the same out of which, just 1000 candidatures are actually appointed.
7. IIT- JEE (Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination)
Indian Institute of Technology is a pioneer of the Indian education system and is most buzzed-about for its toughest entrance exam. The exam is divided into two papers of three hours each. Both of them are objective-based. Many students appear for the same every year but a handful of them can actually make it till the prestigious institute. IIT-JEE is considered as the seventh toughest exam in the world.
It’s a Chinese oriented examination which every student has to appear for in order to get admission to high school. 9. GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)
This all India Examination tests the engineering students on their hold on to related topics of engineering and science. Scoring good marks in GATE will help you get admitted to the prestigious institutes to pursue post-graduation. GATE is held mutually by the Indian Institute of Science and the seven IIT’s in the country. The duration of the examination is of three hours consists of both Multiple Choice Questions and Numerical Problems. The scores of GATE are valid for two years from the date of announcement of results. It is the ninth toughest exam in the world.
10. CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert)
The test checks the ability of the students appearing for CCIE in terms of Planning, operating, troubleshooting tough networking issues. The certification program of CCIE is considered as the most prestigious asset in the entire network building industry. As per a report by CISCO, to all of those who appeared in the examination, only 3% of them could actually complete the program and get certified. It is the tenth toughest exam in the world.
